Inquiry Approach

At Shelford Primary School, we implement an inquiry approach to learning where students focus on a ‘Big Picture Question/Concept’. Students are encouraged and supported to explore the world around them through a range of engaging activities and lessons. Some of the concepts that we investigate are:

• Connections - Exploring Australia’s neighbouring countries and how communities connect.
• Discovery - Investigating concepts of light, sound and physics.
• Change – Studying changes over time and how those changes affect our lives today.
• Identity – Examining cultures, beliefs, and what makes each of us unique.
• Creativity – Letting our imaginations flourish to design magnificent creations
